Super-tugs
Vessels will be tethered to powerful state-of-the-art super-tugs, the largest on Canada’s West Coast, to ensure safe passage through coastal routes.
In addition, harbour tugs will be used to help guide vessels while docking and departing.
There is the potential for BC shipyards to build up to six of the support tugs. The construction and operation of the tugs will create jobs and draw on local maritime expertise.
